Raspberry Pi 5 — 8GB RAM

The Raspberry Pi 5 8 GB is the default general-purpose edge: four Cortex-A76 at 2,4 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, and above all a PCIe port that accepts NVMe SSDs and accelerators. It runs a real stack: Node-RED, InfluxDB, Grafana, an XGBoost model, an OPC UA server — the local industrial computer that aggregates several sensors and hosts the local dashboard.

Its GPU (VideoCore VII) is not an inference accelerator: for deep real-time vision, the Jetson Orin Nano and its CUDA/tensor cores are of another order, or you add a Coral USB. The RPi 5 aims at the versatility/price/Linux-ecosystem compromise, not raw AI performance. Plan for a 5 V/5 A supply and adequate dissipation under load.
